The Conversion and Martyrdom of St. Paul

13th century (est.)
Stained glass
Left window of the chancel, St. Peter's Cathedral, Regensburg, Germany

In the left panel Paul has been knocked backward and lies on his horse's back, about to fall. Above, a great light bursts out from Heaven (Acts 9:3-4). On the right he is beheaded at the order of Nero, the crowned figure in yellow on the right, as in the Golden Legend and many other accounts.
